Joe Kesler

Joe Kesler is a PhD candidate in Biology at Stanford University. His research uses large ocean-spanning datasets to understand how millions of years of evolution have shaped the incredible diversity of life in today’s oceans. Ultimately, by analyzing deep-time evolution in conjunction with the modern-day spatial patterns of marine biodiversity, Joe aims to contextualize the anthropogenic pressures our oceans face today. Outside of research, Joe enjoys drawing, rock climbing, and spending time in nature.
