Garrett Louie
Garrett Louie is a 4th-year physics PhD student in Holger Müller’s group at UC Berkeley. His research leverages the quantum mechanical properties of ultracold atoms to perform precision measurements of gravity. Using a toolbox of lasers and magnetic fields, his apparatus cools cesium atoms to a millionth of a degree and places them in macroscopic quantum states, where they become sensitive to very weak forces. Outside of research, Garrett enjoys a good workout, sewing, and dead languages.
