Elisa Mora

Elisa Heinrich Mora is a PhD candidate at Stanford University studying evolution, broadly construed. Using mathematical and computational models, she investigates how variation arises, how information is transmitted and transformed, and what determines what persists over time. Her work looks for common principles across domains and scales, from genomes to social and cultural systems, treating them not as separate problems but as different manifestations of evolutionary processes. She is also interested in how scientific ideas are communicated and understood. Through writing, illustration, teaching, and the occasional strategically deployed diagram, she has designed and taught STEM programs across a wide range of settings.
