Caroline Hasler – 2026 Wonderfest Science Envoy

Caroline Hasler is a fourth-year PhD student at UC Berkeley. Her specialty is geochronology, the science of determining the ages of rocks and fossils. So far, she has worked on 300-million-year-old volcanoes in Europe, the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction (popularly known as the dinosaur extinction), Hawaiian hotspot volcanism, and historical events such as the infamous eruption of Vesuvius in 79 C.E. Outside of research, Caroline is passionate about science communication and freelances as a science writer for the American Geophysical Union’s magazine Eos. She also enjoys running, reading, and spending time outdoors.
