Trinity Walls – 2023 Wonderfest Science Envoy

Trinity Walls is a PhD candidate studying mate choice patterns and hybridization in jumping spiders at UC Berkeley under Dr. Damian Elias. She amplifies the vibratory signals and records the visual signals to determine how spiders communicate and assess each other. Trinity uses her dancing spiders as a lens to facilitate appreciation for not only the benefits and beauty of diversity in arthropods but diversity in society as well. When she is not spreading love for small misunderstood creatures through outreach or teaching, Trinity can be found hiking, singing, or dancing salsa or bachata. She also loves traveling to tropical rainforests to admire and study arthropod behavior, especially the spiders!
