Mariel Goddu

Wonderfest Science Envoy 2018

Mariel Goddu is a graduate student in the Psychology Department at UC Berkeley, with a focus in cognitive development. The goal of Mariel’s research is to understand the cognitive precursors to scientific thinking. In particular: How do young children learn to reason about causes and effects in the world? Mariel pursues such questions primarily through empirical research with toddlers and preschoolers, but integrates theoretical perspectives from philosophy and vision science. Mariel was recommended for the Science Envoy program by UC Berkeley psychologist Alison Gopnik.
