Astrophotography & the Dark Sky – Sep 5

Millions — billions! — of children grow up blind to the grandeur of a starry sky. As astronomers lead the fight against inspiration-stifling “light pollution,” our amateur cameras can preserve gorgeous nighttime sky-scapes, and our collective activism can help conserve the starry starry night, itself.

Speaker Sivani Babu is Co-founder and Creative Director of Hidden Compass as well as an award-winning nature photographer and journalist. She has spent much of her life chasing dark skies, and is currently at work on her first book, Saving the Night: Shedding Light on the Importance of Darkness.

This two-part event is co-produced by Wonderfest and the Mount Tamalpais Astronomy Program. In late August, when the video is formally posted, visit the Mt Tam Astronomy YouTube channel ("WHERE" link, above) to set a reminder for the actual Premiere on Saturday, September 5th. Thereafter, the video can be viewed at the Wonderfest Science YouTube channel: <https://www.youtube.com/wonderfestscience>.
