Maya Redden

Maya Redden is a PhD candidate at Stanford University, advised by Dr. Patricia Burchat in the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology. She works with the science and operations teams of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, which recently began a 10-year survey of the night sky and will produce more data than all previous optical telescopes combined. Her work focuses on understanding and mitigating systematic sources of error in the data that will impact studies of dark energy, studies that can tell us something about the history and fate of our universe. Outside of her PhD work, Maya is passionate about science outreach and supporting gender minorities in STEM. She is also a contemporary dancer, an avid cook, and she loves collecting new hobbies, including crab fishing from the beaches of San Francisco!
