Alison Gopnik
2021 Carl Sagan Prize for Science Popularization
Alison Gopnik is Professor of Psychology and Affiliate Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a world leader in cognitive science, particularly in the study of children’s learning and development. Dr. Gopnik has written over 100 technical articles and some five popular books, including her most recent, The Gardener and the Carpenter: What the new science of child development tells us about the relationship between parents and children. She writes the “Mind and Matter” column for the Wall Street Journal, and her TED talk has been viewed nearly five million times.
