Rachel Jansen

Rachel Jansen is a Ph.D. student in the Computational Cognitive Science Lab at UC Berkeley. She uses methods from machine learning and probabilistic modeling to study math perception and cognition. She conducts many studies online with adults but also works with children in preschools, science museums, and schools in India and Japan to understand how beliefs about math develop. She hopes that this work will lead to creating interventions that can improve attitudes about the subject.
